Information You Submit
A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the independent provider operating that tool. Geary County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s policy governs its handling of the query.
An email or contact-form message may include the sender’s address and any details placed in the message. That material is retained as needed to answer. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data and Cookies
Routine web systems may record technical information when a page loads:
- Internet Protocol address;
- browser name and version;
- device category and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent;
- the referring page or site, when available; and
- date and time stamps.
Cookies and similar tools help measure how visitors use the pages. A browser can reject or remove cookies, although some functions may then work differently.
How Information Is Used
Collected information may be used to operate and speed up the site, send a search request to the selected partner, understand which Geary County release-record pages help visitors, diagnose technical faults, and present advertising that may reflect a visitor’s interests.
Other Sites and Advertising
Links lead to Geary County records, sheriff and corrections pages, court portals, federal locators, and independent search services. After a visitor follows a link, the destination’s privacy terms apply. Geary County Released Inmates does not control those outside practices.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to recognize activity across different websites and select targeted ads. That cross-site activity occurs through the advertising provider, not through a public jail or release record hosted here. Kansas public-record access, including requests under the Kansas Open Records Act beginning at K.S.A. 45-215, remains governed by the responsible public agency.
When Data May Be Shared
Personal information is not sold. Limited information may be provided to:
- search partners that process a submitted query;
- analytics providers that measure site use;
- advertising networks that deliver ads; and
- law enforcement or another government body responding to a valid legal order.
Security Practices
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under the site’s control. No internet service, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed breach-proof. Visitors should avoid sending sensitive booking, financial, medical, or identity data that is not needed for a message.
Visitors Under Eighteen
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contact Us page to request deletion.
Privacy Choices and Rights
Subject to applicable law and the ability to verify a request, a person may ask for a copy of personal data held by the site, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, or an opt-out from certain processing. These requests apply only to data controlled here. Geary County Sheriff, KDOC, courts, search partners, and other linked entities maintain their own records and processes.
Changes to This Notice
This Privacy Notice may be revised when site practices or legal requirements change. A revised version takes effect when posted with an updated effective date.
