Kansas VINE is a free, confidential, voluntary service described by the Kansas Attorney General. The Geary County Sheriff's Corrections page links the program for county-jail status and alerts. It is designed to check a specific person. It is not a browsable Geary release list and does not replace the jail's booking history.
The main boundary is firm. Kansas VINE covers participating county jails, including the Geary County Detention Center, but the Attorney General expressly excludes people housed in KDOC state prisons. A released result confirms a reported departure from that county jail. It does not prove that no other county, KDOC, federal, military, or immigration authority took custody. Check the Attorney General landing page before relying on any number, especially if a call fails. Do not silently swap the two versions. This conflict affects the access route, not the VINELink web search or the scope rule that limits Kansas VINE to county jails.
Read Geary VINE Release Events
The event label matters as much as the alert. A release event reports departure from the participating county jail. A transfer reports movement to another custodian. Court movement may be temporary. An escape or return event describes a different custody change. The statewide service also supports death and scheduled-release notices. Read the full event before calling it a completed release.
For Geary County, the New World booking detail supplies the best online cross-check. Match the subject and booking number, then read the actual release time, booking origin, prisoner type, court, bonds, charge disposition, and any later booking. A failed name search is not proof that the person was released. Check spelling and legal-name variants, then confirm that Kansas and the right county agency were selected.
